One of the great things about sport, especially team sport is its ability to transform lives. Wheelchair basketball opened so many doors for me and helped me to become the person I am today. There aren't many things in life that give me the same buzz as I get from playing a full throttle no holds barred game of wheelchair basketball. I think its awesome that the game I love so much is now spreading its wings and having a positive effect on the lives of so many people all over the world.
Dr Ludwig Guttmann founder of the paralympic movement saw sport as medicine that could rehabilitate the mind and body.
This blog was inspired by a video I was sent of the Afghan Wheelchair basketball team trying to qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympics at a tournament in Japan. Check it out I love their spirit.
